Stevie's January Blog

January 2009

News and Event Item

Well, here's the first of my Blogs, I'm hoping to have regular Blog updates throughout the year.  January has been a busy period for us, we've been at the Autosport Show, I'm just back from the MSA British Rally Elite Academy re-assessment, and between that I've been busy planning this year.

The Autosport show was good, with lots of interesting stands, and the wheeling Mini in the Live Action Arena was awesome! I spent some time talking with a few people about deals for this season, and Andrew and I were on the Go Motorsport stand for a while promoting their go karting for a fiver scheme, check out www.gomotorsport.net for more info.

I've been working hard on my fitness during the off season to ensure I'm in the best condition I can be for the first rally of the year. Although we spend all of our time sitting when we're competing, it's important to have a good level of fitness to prevent injury, and it also means we can push for longer without fatigue becoming an issue.

I also had a meeting with my technical partner Global Web about further developments to the website. We've come up with some really exciting ideas and with their expertise we can make them a reality, so watch this space!

This year I'm very keen to become involved with a charity. I've had a meeting with an Aberdeen charity and we're currently working on a project for later this year, we should be able to confirm details soon.

On the 23rd I was in Edinburgh for the MSA British Rally Elite Academy re-assessments. They assessed us last March and we were given a fitness regime to follow and Friday was the big test to see if we had improved. Although I'm still waiting for the results I think I've made improvements, but I'll just have to wait until the results arrive to find out!

I also had a session with Huge Richards, the schemes sports psychologist which has given me and Andrew some key areas to focus on in the preparation for events. We also had a group session with a Nutritionist who outlined what we should be eating, and more importantly what we shouldn't! Working with these people is very important as if you aspire to be the best there is, you need to have a team of people behind you who are the best in their field, this is what the MSA British Rally Elite scheme offers.

Our first event will be the Malcolm Wilson Rally on the 7th March in Cumbria. At the moment I'm working on sponsorship deals and ensuring the cars in top condition for the start of the year, as this year will be the biggest and in many ways most important season of my career to date. I'm looking forward to getting back out in the car and on gravel my favourite surface. So, that's about all the news for now. If you want to get in touch send me an e-mail info@steviebrown.co.uk

Catch you later,

Stevie
