In an event that promises to offer a cocktail of world class talent, raw speed and an explosion of colour and noise, the International Rally of Scotland will provide an exciting centrepiece to the Homecoming Scotland 2009 celebrations.
Stevie Brown, one of the most exciting rally talents in the country, has began his search for commercial partners as he launches his campaign to tackle the event at the wheel of a Subaru Impreza. "With the best drivers in the world gathering in Scotland for this event, and for what promises to be a fantastic battle for victory, I want to give the home crowds something to cheer about" said Stevie.
But Stevie explains that it will only be possible for him to tackle the event if he secures the funds in time. "At the moment we need to get the budget in place, that's our main priority just now. We are looking for businesses to invest in the opportunity to utilise the PR, branding and corporate hospitality available."
Perth and Stirling will play host to the final round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC), taking place from Thursday 19 November to Saturday 21. With live television coverage on Eurosport and media coverage locally, nationally and worldwide, the event will provide a truly international flavour. "Fans from all over the world will travel to Scotland to cheer on their rallying hero's. Its going to be a really exciting event to be part of from both a driver's point of view and commercial partners" says Stevie.
The Rt Hon Alex Salmond MSP said: Scotland's reputation for leading innovation and setting new standards in the motorsport industry makes it an ideal location for the Intercontinental Rally Challenge final. The event will be made even more special as it will be one of the signature events in our Homecoming programme. For 2009 we are inviting Scotland>'s friends and family to return home to celebrate our strengths and culture."
