September 2009
It's fast approaching October, and there's only one thing on my mind, biscuits. It can only mean one thing, it must be time for the Tunnocks Tour of Mull Rally. As if the mouth watering prospect of Tunnocks finest isn't enough, the opportunity to compete on some of the best asphalt stages in Europe truly makes the Tour of Mull an event I'm eager to sink my teeth into.
This year is the events 40th birthday, and to celebrate the land-mark year the event will kick off with two blasts around Tobermory, before heading to the awesomely quick Glen Bellart. The chance to drive flat out around Tobermory, set against the techno-coloured buildings is something I'm looking forward to. I can't say the stage will particularly suit the Fiesta, but the spectacle it will create for the event and spectators should be great.
We're going to try a different set-up this year which should hopefully make the car more stable in high speed sections. I think the class battle should be pretty exciting this year, there's plenty of competition, not least a bit of family competition! Doug and Duncan are out again in the Escort, and with some go-faster springs and lights I'm sure he'll be pretty quick (as usual), and it's certainly not going to be easy to beat them!
Before Mull I'll be at the McRae Stages doing my bit with the Ecosse 205 Championship. Its great being involved with the series, and the TV presenting is something a bit different and is an opportunity to see the sport from a different perspective.
I'll be heading over to Mull for the recce on Monday and I'll be keeping you up-to-date news through twitter. You can see each up date on steviebrown.co.uk on the home page or on the follow the team link. Alternatively you can follow me on twitter by clicking the link http://twitter.com/StevieBrown
Cheers for now,
