Rally giant Subaru has invited Stevie Brown to test drive their latest cup car on the frozen lakes of Norway in a three day test from December 18th. The test session will see Brown climb behind the wheel of the Subaru STI cup car, which has already claimed numerous successes this season in the Norwegian series. "Subaru have offered me a fantastic opportunity, and I'm looking forward to driving the car" explained Stevie.
Norway currently hosts a Subaru one make rally championship, a series the 22-year-old driver says he's interested in looking in to for the 2010 season. "The package Subaru have put together is incredible; they've built a car capable of winning rallies at a cost comparable to running an R2 car" said Brown.
Stevie, winner of the inaugural Colin McRae tribute award 'If in Doubt, Flat Out', will see the Scottish ace continue in the foot steps of McRae who drove for Subaru early in his career, and went on to win the 1995 World Rally Championship behind the wheel of a Subaru Impreza. "Subaru have a strong heritage in rallying winning the manufactures World Rally Championship three times, so to be involved with such a successful team is a huge honour."
George Donaldson, Subaru group N project manager will host the test session at the world famous John Haugland winter driving complex. Donaldson joined Brown in a pre-event test session for the Scottish Rally earlier this year. "George sat with me on a few runs in the Fiesta ST, and it was a lot of fun. But the great thing is when your with George you never stop learning, he's a very quick driver himself and has worked with many of the worlds best drivers, so to have his support is invaluable."
