News and Event Item

Well what can I say about the Malcolm Wilson Rally? To say it was a difficult rally for the team would be a bit of an underestimate. Before the event I was at the media launch of the Jim Clark Memorial Rally in Edinburgh. The Jim Clark Rally are running a super special stage this year in the city centre, which I think will be fantastic as it will bring the rally to the people, raising the profile of the sport.

As I'm sure you will have read by now the test stage on the Malcolm Wilson Rally didn't exactly go to plan. I was out on the stage just looking at the set up of the car; see how it was riding the bumps and if any changes were needed. I was probably about half way through the stage when I approached a fast left hand corner, maybe a 3L+. The entry speed for the corner required a quick dab of left foot braking then straight back on the throttle. Only when I braked the car didn't respond, and I landed up catching the corner of a bank.

We got the car back to M-Sport and worked flat out to get it sorted, which we did (special thanks to Neil Coalter). So as you can imagine for the drive shaft to go on the first stage was a real disappointment. I think the easy option would have been to put the car on the trailer and head home, but we stuck at it and made it round to the finish to get some championship points on the board. Okay it's not a lot of points but its better than nothing.

Now the team and I are working on getting the car sorted for the Bulldog and trying to secure a few more financial backers to make the opening round of the British Rally Championship possible.

It's the first round of the Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship this weekend at Crail. SBM are the official Marshalls Championship sponsor and we're hoping to be there to support the crews as they start their championship season. We've also got some of the blue insulated service suits for sale - it's the same suits the service team wear and they're perfect for spectating, marshalling or servicing. Send me an email if you're interested!

Well that's all my news for now. Feel free to drop me an email info@steviebrown.co.uk
