Falconer: The level of commitment was impressive

July 2009

With regular co-driver Andrew Roughead unable to make round 4 of the Kick Energy Fiesta Sport Trophy, the RSAC Scottish Rally, Stevie was left searching for a replacement co-driver as the series made its only stop in Scotland.

"For sure there was a wee bit extra pressure on us to win the Fiesta class because it was our home rally, but I wasn't treating it any differently to any other rally, and my main concern was finding a good replacement co-driver" said Stevie.

Stevie continues, "I was phoning around and the first time I spoke to Chelle she thought she might be doing it with someone else. It wasn't until a few days later she text me asking if I was still looking as her deal for the event fell-through." Michelle Falconer from Inverness was signed up there and then. "I was really happy that Stevie asked me to navigate for him, but going into the event I didn't have a clue what to expect from the Fiesta or Stevie having never sat with him before" said Michelle.

She continues, "Overall I really enjoyed the rally, although I was really disappointed when we got the puncture. I was really impressed with Stevie's driving; I've never seen so much commitment sitting with someone before in all the years I've been rallying."

While Stevie says Michelle is among one of the most professional co-drivers he's ever worked with. "When someone new co-drives you're never sure what to expect, but I can honestly say Michelle was one of the best. Her preparation before the event was excellent, and she delivered the notes perfectly."
