STEVIE SET TO FACE TOP TALENT ON SCOTTISH EVENT

May 2011

News and Event Item

This weekends (27-29 May) Jim Clark Rally will see Scottish rally ace Stevie Brown line up alongside 110 cars to tackle the 60 mile high speed asphalt route. The fourth round of the MSA Scottish Rally Championship will also mark a change of co-driver for the JRRC Fitness backed driver, with fellow Scot Craig Chapman joining the team for the event.

The event based in Duns, the home town of Scottish motor racing legend Jim Clark, remains the only rally to take place on closed public roads on mainland UK, and attracts the best drivers from throughout Europe. Stevie, who will tackle the event behind the wheel of his motoGF backed Subaru Impreza says the event offers a unique challenge. “The levels of grip are much higher than on gravel, so we are driving more like a racing driver” explained Brown.

The Jim Clark Rally has become infamous for its high speeds, changeable weather and jumps which line the route, “There are some huge jumps in the rally which can make things tricky for us” said Stevie. The Neil Philip Sign writing supported driver continues, “They are a lot of fun for sure, but really important to get right. Once the car has left the ground there’s nothing you can do, so we have to be inch perfect with our lines to make sure the car flies the right way, and more importantly land in the right place!”

With the DMACK Tyres shod Subaru Impreza reaching speeds of well over 110mph on the narrow bumpy tarmac roads, Stevie and Craig will have to settle in to their new partnership quickly on the rally debut together. “Craig has a lot of experience and we’ve done some good prep-work for the event, so I’m confident that we’ll work well together” explained Stevie.

As one of the largest and most spectacular rallies in the country is set into motion, Stevie Brown and Craig Chapman will race through the asphalt stages at breakneck speed in their pursuit of a winning position.
